Linguistics as a Way of Life

Alessio Tosolini is a student at Interlake High School in Bellevue, Washington. He created a linguistics club because he loves how linguistics problems encourage you to continually challenge assumptions, identify patterns and anomalies, and learn about different cultures. He led a project called “It’s (Not) Greek to Me” to help turn learning languages from a tedious task to a desirable activity done with peers. Through this initiative, students studying languages can engage in conversations with fluent speakers to simultaneously learn and have fun.
