Destigmatizing Mental Health through Magazines
Ana Chen is a student at Interlake High School in Bellevue, Washington. As a dancer and writer, she is passionate about the intersection between art and activism. Inspired by her identity as a Chinese-American, Ana is working on a novel about womanhood during the Warring States Period in ancient China. She uses both her dancing and writing to reflect and demonstrate control through personal challenges such as destructive habits and pressure to produce art for others instead of herself. She also works to destigmatize mental health through her online magazine It’s Real. To learn more, check out Ana’s work at itsrealmagazine.org.
